The Christmas season will be very colorful this weekend at Pleasant Hill Lake Park.
The Christmas in July season, that is.
A giant fireworks show scheduled Saturday night (July 16) at dark will highlight the park’s annual Christmas in July weekend.
Events begin Friday (July 15) with a children’s coloring contest at 6 p.m., followed by bingo for adults and children at 7 p.m. Hay wagon rides are planned from 8 to 10:15 p.m. and judging for decoration of camping lots will begin at 9:30 p.m.
On Saturday (July 16), an adult snowman-making contest is planned with judging scheduled to wrap up by 5 p.m. in the park’s Activity Center. Children’s craft time is set at 11 a.m., an adult craft is planned at 1 p.m. and a decorating contest for children’s bicycles, scooters and wagons will be held at 3 p.m.
Down at the park’s swimming beach, a whole host of beach games are planned beginning at 4 p.m. and the disc jockey Martin will play the hits from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The band Outlaw I will take the stage at the beach at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks show will follow at dark.
Overnight camping is available and the park’s swimming beach will be open all weekend.
