Former Aultman Hospital CEO named to MWCD Board

The retired president and chief executive officer of the Aultman Health Foundation in Stark County has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD).

Richard J. Pryce of North Canton was selected by the judges of the Conservancy Court during their session Wednesday (Aug. 1) to replace David E. Brightbill of Washington County to serve a five-year term on the five-member Board of Directors. Brightbill recently completed his second five-year term on the Board of Directors and was ineligible for reappointment by the Court.

Pryce retired in 2000 after more than 20 years as the head of the Aultman Health Foundation, which operates Aultman Hospital at Canton and other healthcare facilities in Stark County. He also worked for Arthur Andersen and Co.’s consulting staff and was the chief operating officer for St. John Hospital in Detroit.

A graduate of the University of Michigan and a former U.S. Navy officer, Pryce was appointed in 2006 to the MWCD’s Development Advisory Committee. Since his retirement, he has been active in a number of community and environmental improvement programs, including service to the Citizens for a Better Stark County, the Stark County Drainage Task Force, Governor’s Commission to Improve Teaching in Ohio and the chair of the Ohio General Assembly’s Ohio Medicaid Administrative Study Council.

Members of the MWCD Board of Directors are appointed by the judges of the Conservancy Court to oversee the operations and business affairs of the Conservancy District. The MWCD manages 54,000 acres of land and water space dedicated to public use – including 10 lakes, five lake parks and Atwood Lake Resort and Conference Center – in an 18-county region in eastern Ohio.

Other members of the MWCD Board of Directors are Harry C. Horstman of Harrison County, Steve Kokovich of Muskingum County, David Parham of Carroll County and Thomas Tribbie of Guernsey County. The Board of Directors meets monthly in open, public session.
